15 Best Laptops of 2016

1. Aorus X3 Plus v3 — $2200 —

Aorus X3 Plus v3

Highlights:

  • Intel Core i7-4710HQ at 2.5GHz and 16 GB RAM.
  • 13.9 inch QHD+ IPS display at 3200×1800 resolution.
  • 512 GB Solid-State Drive and gaming-keyboard like tactile feedback. Through Macro Keys, you will be able to assign 25 commands.
  • 802.11 ac WiFi and 1.8Kg/3.97 pounds weight.
  • Having a dedicated graphics card means it can get hot quickly during gaming sessions.

Our Verdict:

While it is very slim and attractive by gaming laptops’ standards, it can get warmed up quickly. But also worth remembering is the fact that it has a Nvidia GTX-970M graphics card, so that much heating is may be justified.

2. Aorus X7 Pro — $2600 —

Aorus X7 Pro

Highlights:

  • 16 GB DDR3L SDRAM and Intel Core i7 process of 2.5 GHz.
  • 17.3 inch Widescreen and up to 2.5 hours of battery life – which is short – even for a gaming laptop.
  • 512 GB SSD, 1 TB storage of Hard Drive and Dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M 3GB DDR5 graphics card ( 6 GB total) — courtesy of SLI technology.
  • Anti-Ghosting gaming keyboard with a row of customization macro keys. Anti-ghosting means you can press a large number of keys simultaneously.
  • Modern style and extremely thin – when compared with other gaming laptops.

Our Verdict:

While it is $400 more expensive than Auros X3, you will get a Bigger screen and More storage. But it’s far from prefect. Its fans produce quiet a noise and its track pad is hard to click. Another fact that its new version is coming, might count against it.

3. Asus ROG G751JY — $2200 —

Asus ROG G751JY

Highlights:

  • Intel Core i7-4710HQ process of 2.6 GHz – can be boosted up to 3.6 GHz – and a 24 GB DDR3 RAM.
  • 17.3 inch FHD IPS screen with G-sync hardware technology, dual Band WiFi 802.11 A/C and 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M 4GB DDR5 graphics card with G-SYNC.
  • Unimpressive battery life of 3-hours, 1 TB Hard Drive and 256 GB Solid State Drive.
  • Quiet fans – despite having a dedicated graphics card – and above par design overall.

Our Verdict:

Apart from Battery life — which is , by the way, issue with every other gaming notebook — it has every reason to please you. From Backlit-keyboard to ROG-key — made to open gaming dashboard at one-press — and from AudioWizard utility for audio to latest Nvidia GTX 980. You see, everything is there.

4. Alienware 13 — $1400 —

Alienware 13

Highlights:

  • 5th-generation Intel core i7 2.4 GHz processor that can be boosted up to 3.0 GHz and 16 GB DDR3L RAM.
  • 512 GB SSD and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2GB Graphics card.
  • 13.3 Inch QHD+ IPS-Panel TrueLife display at 3200×1800 resolution.
  • Compact design – something very rare for a gaming laptop – and more than 3 hours of heavy gaming sessions.
  • High resolution games are better avoided.

Our Verdict:

Being a gaming notebook in less than $1500-bracket means its owners will surely have to compromise in some areas such as small screen — but that may be a plus point for some users — and mediocre graphics card. But here’s one good and bad new for you. Good news is that you can boost its Graphics handling functionality using a Graphics Amplifier. The bad news is, that this Graphics amplifier is sold separately, so you have to shed some extra bucks for it. But, using that amplifier can give you even more graphics-power than Nvidia GTX Titan X graphics card.

5. Alienware 15 — $1580 —

Alienware 15

Highlights:

  • Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.5 GHz Processor and 16 GB DDR3 RAM.
  • 1 TB Hard Drive, 128 GB Solid-State Drive + NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB GDDR5 Graphics card.
  • 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080, IPS screen and back-lit keyboard with seven programmable light zones. You can have customization macro commands too.
  • You can upgrade graphics, if even NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M isn’t enough for you – courtesy of Alienware’s external Graphics Amplifier.
  • Almost 5 hours of battery life and 7.1 pounds weight – heavy for a medium-sized laptop.
  • Stylish design when considering it as a Gaming notebook.

Our Verdict:

Yes, it is heavy but it really shines in almost all other areas. The most important of them is its long battery life. Considering that it is only $200 costlier than Alienware 13, it is quite a fair option. Because in extra $200, you’ll get a good Graphics Card, Bigger screen, more internal storage and good customization too. Like Alienware 13, it also supports the Graphics Amplifier.

6. Alienware 17 (2015) — $1900 —

Alienware 17 (2015)

Highlights:

  • 2.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7-4710HQ – up to 3.5 GHz with Turbo Boost.
  • 17.3 inch, 1,920 x 1,080 resolution IPS anti-glare screen and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 4GB GDDR5 Discrete Graphics Card.
  • 16 GB DDRL3 RAM, 128 SSD and 1 TB Hard Drive.
  • You can upgrade Graphic performance with Alienware’s Graphics Amplifier.
  • Though this external Amplifier is bottle necked.
  • Can get too hot – too quickly.
  • It comes in two versions: Touch and Non-touch.

Our Verdict:

Now it is the best Alienware gaming laptop you can get — albeit in $1900 (for non-touch version). Of course, it has a top-end Graphics card, Big screen and not to mention about amplifier once again.

7. CyberPowerPC FangBook HFX7-500 — $2190 —

CyberPowerPC-FangBook-HFX7-500

  • Intel Core i7-4700MQ 2.4 GHz processor with 16 GB SO-DIMM (Small Outline Dual In-line Memory Module) memory.

  • Optical-drive supported and 6-hour battery life.
  • 17.3? 1080p Anti-Glare LED at 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Our Verdict:

It surely don’t have specs to amuse you, but in its price range it sounds a pretty fair deal.

8. Gigabyte P35K v3 –

Gigabyte-P35K-15-Best-Laptops-for-Gaming-2016
