Verizon has pushed a brand new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware for all the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 LTE-A users on their network.
If you dont want to wait until the official update comes in your region, then you can always flash manually all the new Lollipop firmware files. The update comes with a ton of new features and things that will improve the overall Android experience for your Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 LTE-A.
This update is being released in stages over-the-air, but not all users are going to get it at the same time. If you do not want to wait for the update to arrive by itself, then you can flash it using the files below.
Before starting the update you can check the guidelines below:
- use this post only with the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 LTE-A devices.
check the model number of your device under Settings> About Device.
the version of your device should be SM T337V. - do not attempt to update any other devices with the files that you will find in this post.
- download the Samsung USB drivers from here, install them on your device.
these drivers will allow your PC to detect the tablet. - in order to install this update you will need to use Odin app.
disable Samsung KIES and the antivirus apps from running on your computer.
these apps are trying to block Odin from flashing any new files on your device. - enable the USB Debugging on your tablet from its Developer Options menu.
the Developer Options might be hidden and you have to enable it first.
go to Settings> About Phone and tap 7 times on the Build Number section.
now, return to Settings, scroll down and open the Developer Options menu.
find USB Debugging and enable it. - you can flash the update over a rooted firmware, but root access is going to be removed in the process.
any custom Recovery that might be installed will be replaced with a stock Recovery. - the update can be done over a custom ROM, but you will need to apply an extra factory reset after the update is done.
the factory reset process is going to wipe all the files from system partition along with the custom ROM.
the factory reset shouldnt remove any data from internal storage.
if your tablet used to run a Custom ROM and you dont factory reset the device, then the tablet wont boot in normal mode. - read the whole guide and do not skip any steps.
- check the battery level, it has to be over 50% and it will prevent the device from powering down during the first boot.
- this post has to be used and applied by advanced users, we cannot be blamed in case you brick the device nor in case you lose any important data in the process.

If Odin shows the FAIL alert or any other errors, then you will have to try and repeat the whole tutorial more than once.If you try to repeat the installation, then you should make sure that the tablet meets all requirements above and make sure not to skip any steps.NOTE:If Odin shows the PASS alert, but the tablet is unable to go past the boot animation screen or it enters in a boot loop, then you need to factory reset the device. The factory reset steps below need to be applied by those that have installed the new update over a custom ROM too. Heres how to factory reset the device:- switch off the device.
- boot it in Recovery Mode.
- use the wipe data/ factory reset option.
